Hi, family friends!
For the 23rd straight year, I'll be participating in Great Strides, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's fundraising event to cure cystic fibrosis (CF).
Walking a 5k feels extremely easy for me now since my double-lung transplant at the end of 2019, but there hasn’t been a walk I’ve taken the last 3 years where I don’t acknowledge how grateful and appreciative I am for those steps. Who would've thought I'd ever be excited about cardio, but here we are. (Jokes aside, having a new lease on life is a pretty incredible feeling).
Without this new lease, I wouldn’t have been able to know my new niece and nephew and share in my sister and brother-in-law’s happiness. That’s everything to me.
CF doesn't affect my respiratory system the same way since my double-lung transplant, but I'm still plagued by the effects CF has on the digestive and sinus systems. So, for those keeping score, cystic fibrosis is still very much part of my everyday life, and I'd very much like to see a cure in my lifetime.
You can feel good that your donation will be well spent: More than 90 cents of every dollar raised by the CF Foundation is used to support its vital programs. Yay, research!
For those of you new to the cause and those who've been with me since day one, I hope you can support my efforts. My family and I offer our heartfelt thanks.
Alissa
