My Great Strides Story
Since birth, Jackson has had quite the journey with cystic fibrosis (CF). Thanks to the support of the CF Foundation (CFF), Jackson now benefits from Trikafta, a medication that has significantly improved his health. Remarkably, he has avoided hospitalization for nearly two years, marking his longest period of wellness yet. With his lung function at an impressive 100%, recent chest x-rays even show signs of airway repair.
Despite ongoing challenges with digestive issues, Jackson remains resilient. While he faces difficulties maintaining weight—a concern for airway health—he persists, utilizing a feeding tube, though his BMI has yet to reach 50%.
Jackson enthusiastically participates in various sports including his travel baseball team (Go Bulldogs!), soccer, football, and basketball within our local community. Rain or shine, he can be found outdoors, riding his bike, scooter, or skateboard around the neighborhood. Beyond sports, Jackson enjoys engaging in creative activities like Lego building, drawing, and playing video games. To look at him, you wouldn't suspect he has CF.
Managing his condition requires Jackson to adhere to a regimen of about 10 medications daily, each playing a crucial role in supporting his body's function. We hold onto hope that ongoing research will lead to advancements allowing Jackson to reduce his medication intake over time.
Your support, whether by joining our team or contributing to the cause, can help Jackson lead a longer, healthier life!
