Jackson’s CF story has come a long way. With all the contributions to and from the CFF, Jackson is able to take a drug called Trikafta. This drug has helped Jackson to remain out of the hospital for almost 2 years, which is his longest stretch yet! His lung function is at 100% and we’ve even seen some repair from damaged airways on his last chest x-ray. Jackson still struggles with the digestive problems that come with CF. He struggled to gain weight, which eventually can cause problems in his airways. Even with the use of a feeding tube, his BMI has not yet reached 50%.

Jackson is extremely active. He loves playing baseball, soccer, football, and basketball through our town’s sports teams. He rides his bike, scooter, and skateboard around our development every chance he gets. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, snowing, freezing or excessively hot. Jackson will find a way to be outside. Jackson also loves doing Lego’s, drawing and other types of artwork, and playing video games. If you didn’t know him, you wouldn’t know that he had CF just by looking at him.

Jackson takes about 10 different medications each day. All these medications help his body to function as normally as possible. Our hope is that with more research and developments, he can come off some of these medications over the course of his lifetime. My Great Strides Story

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. By participating in Great Strides, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF.

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues.  

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
