In 1981, the UAB Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center (CFRC) became the first multi-disciplinary CF center established in the United States with the purpose of studying basic CF pathology and therapeutics. The UAB CFRC has maintained continuous funding from the CF Foundation and National Institutes of Health since 1981, and it currently includes more than 80 faculty members. A strong CF Care Center is also located a few blocks down the street in the Children's Hospital of Alabama and UAB Hospital, which affords state-of-the-art care for approximately 400 CF patients.
There are nearly 30,000 Americans living with CF. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. Because of our long-standing dedication to these patients and their families, the UAB CFRC, Hospital and Children's staff participate in the Great Strides walk every year. Will you join our team? All we need you to do is click on the "Join our Team" button. From there, you can make a donation and start your fundraising.
By becoming a member of our team or simply making a donation, you are joining thousands of people committed to finding a cure for CF. Together, we are increasing the length and quality of life for individuals living with this disease.
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for CF patients and their families. Please join our team and help add tomorrows!
