I'm participating in my second Great Strides walk to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
My niece, Emily, was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the lungs & pancreas. Before she was born, no one in the family knew much about CF. Now, we're Emily's Entourage!
Thus far, Emily's overall health has been great - thanks to daily breathing treatments, digestive enzymes with every meal, vigilant germ control, amazing parents, and a wonderful CF Clinic care team. Now that she's 2, she's also started on Orkambi - a medicine that actually modifies her cells to work to make her healthier.
Real progress has been made for those who have CF. A life-changing drug, Trikafta, was developed just months before Emily was born and gives us all so much hope for the future! But there is still no cure for this devastating disease, and many lives are cut far too short. There's still so much work to do.
With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help me reach my fundraising goal!
