There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. 2 of those very special people are my daughters, Alexandra and Samantha. Samantha, who is 18, is starting to see her lung function decline, and her energy level decrease, along with an increasing number of hospital stays over the last 2 years. Alexandra, who is 24, has had significant lung function decline, and many hospitalizations over the years. This disease is progressive, and without a cure, I will continue to watch my children's health decline.
My nephew Dan, lost his fight with CF a few years ago, he was only in his early 20's. He was such an amazing person, and I truly miss his smiling face, his stupid jokes, and his big heart.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, including a brand new drug that offers trememdous hope, but there is still much work to do, and the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. My family is walking in the Great Strides event to raise much needed money to find that cure. CF is an orphan disease, and they receive no government funding. All the progress that has been made has been through fundraisers like Great Strides. Please consider supporting Team Keiser by making a donation, or get your family and friends together and join us! We would love to see you there!
