I am a 22-year-old living with CF. I was diagnosed when I was 11 following a sinus surgery which resulted in the doctor testing me for CF. My mutations are F508del and 2184insA (which are shared by my brother, Philip). My lung function is much improved since I have now been taking Trikafta for a year and a half. I just graduated from Morehead State University where I majored in Elementary Education and Special Education. My hobbies include watching YouTube and Netflix quite a bit, visiting with friends, playing MarioKart and JustDance on the Wii, and jamming to Broadway cast albums.
This year, I'm participating in the Great Strides Virtual event on May 15. If you want to help Add Tomorrows please donate to me or another walker.
Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!
Because of the support generated by events like the Great Strides Walk, the progress made by the CFF in recent years is truly amazing. The work to individualize treatment to correct the specific gene defect has led to some very successful treatments for many CF patients and has also been expanded to help other genetic diseases including cancer. CFF researchers have also been working with gene editing and when perfected it will actually cure the disease. There is not yet a timeline for gene correction therapy but the CFF Is working in conjunction with many other researchers with the goal of curing many genetic diseases.
Please support me!
