Once again the Great Strides walk will be a virtual event and this year it will be celebrated on May 15, 2021. I hope you'll still join us & hopefully we can have a friends/family walk day when the world goes back to normal!
It's been a great year for Annie & Philip! They have continued the new CF modulator Trikafta and they are both thriving! They both have had a reduction in their daily cough and other symptoms and family and friends have commented on the noticeable improvement. They still need to do their daily treatments but there will be trials to see if some parts of their daily routine can be modified.
To help promote & fund this promising research we are once again participating in the Great Strides walk. Great Strides is the CFF’s largest and most successful national fundraising event. This year, we’re walking in the 2021 Virtual Great Strides Walk on May 15, 2021. If you want to help Add Tomorrows for Annie & Philip here are two ways you can help:
You can register to walk as part of the Wacky Waymeyers team- it’s free! - but if we could get 50 walkers registered and each walker raised or donated $100 then we’d have $5000!
Go to http://cffh.convio.net/goto/wackywaymeyers
Click on the “Join My Team” box on the right and register to walk
You can donate to the Wacky Waymeyers’ team by mailing a check made out to CFF, or online:
Go to http://cffh.convio.net/goto/wackywaymeyers
Click on the “Donate to me” tab or click “Visit My Team Page” and donate to the kids or another walker
Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!
Because of the support generated by events like the Great Strides Walk, the progress made by the CFF in recent years is truly amazing. The work to individualize treatment to correct the specific gene defect has led to some very successful treatments for many CF patients and has also been expanded to help other genetic diseases including cancer. CFF researchers have also been working with gene editing and when perfected it will actually cure the disease. There is not yet a timeline for gene correction therapy but the CFF Is working in conjunction with many other researchers with the goal of curing many genetic diseases.
We truly appreciate all the support, prayers, and good wishes we have received from all our family and friends, and we would be honored to have you walk virtually (or hopefully in person sometime) with us on May 15, 2021. Thanks to everyone for contributions of any kind.
Sincerely,
Shelly, Dave, Annie & Philip Waymeyer
