May is CF Awareness month. Our cousins Alyssa and Tre’ LaRosa have been fighting cystic fibrosis since birth. After surviving not one, but two double-lung transplants, Alyssa lost her courageous battle against CF on March 12, 2018, at the far too young age of 29.
Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
More than 10 million Americans are unknowing, symptomless carriers of a defective CF gene.
Unfortunately, there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. However, real progress has been made for those living with CF, in a large part due to annual fundraising efforts, which continue to fund groundbreaking research in hopes that one day soon, a cure will be developed.
On Saturday, May 18th, our family will be walking with the 65 LaRosas Team at the Cincinnati 2024 Great Strides Walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of Alyssa, to help the foundation raise money for CF awareness/research and to support Tre’ and thousands of others affected by CF.
Our hope is that CF may one day stand for Cure Found! A donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated for this very personal cause. Your gift is 100-percent tax deductible. Please consider making a donation to our Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
