Did you know there are approximately 30,000 Americans struggling every day just to breathe!? Did you also know the average life expectancy is just 37.5 years? Can you imagine missing out on being a parent or having grandkids? Even normal activities can be too strenuous and hospital visits are plentiful. This is a genetic illness, something we can’t control.
Above is a picture of Lea and Tiff, the beginning of Salty Cysters. Their strong friendship was a positive that came out of them both being diagnosed with CF.
We will be wearing the pink “Salty Cysters” shirts at the walk on May 16th! Go to the link to get yours before they sell out! https://leamariefaraonefoundation.org/salty-shop/ The shirts benefit the Lea Marie Faraone Foundation and those living with CF.
"The LMF Foundation was founded by Lea’s family after the sudden passing of their daughter/ sister in December 2018. Among wanting to live CF free, one of Lea’s dreams was to start her very own foundation. She was always very passionate about helping others. She even chose a career as a nurse so she could help other patients like herself. Lea wanted to start a foundation for children with all chronic diseases, not just CF. While other foundations solely focused on a cure, Lea wanted one that was different; one that could help those in need RIGHT NOW. No one should spend their whole life waiting for a cure! Here at LMFF, we work to give children and young adults the best quality of life possible in the same spirit of adventure, courage & kindness that Lea had." Foundation-Sponsored Indoor and Outdoor Events and Gatherings
The Foundation is closely following the evolving coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to monitor coronavirus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and assess whether we need to change any scheduled events.
To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow, and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function.
To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
