Hey guys! The CF walk for Atlanta is May 16. I haven’t been able to do a walk in over 4 years now due to being too sick, not able to make long term commitments-always needing to cancel. I would like to walk this year with my family and any friends who want to join my team would mean a lot to me. Each team has to raise money, normally teams have goals. It would be amazing to be able to raise $1000, thats asking a lot though. I have decided to name my team “CPR CREW” (I’m thinking a funny lifeguard look to our shirts lol). Funnily enough my name is Cortney Paige Roeder, hence “CPR”. My family named me before I was diagnosed with a lung disease 3 months after my birth. Crazy ironic but its pretty cool. Anyways, I’m going to have shirts made for our team. If anyone is wanting to walk with my team then you can sign up -
There are options to donate to a walker and to join a team.
If you want to walk then please let me know or sign up by the end of March, only because I would like to put everyones names on the back of all the shirts, its okay if you don’t sign up by then too. After March 31 I will be able to have a cost on the Team shirts. At the walk if you raise a certain amount of money then you will also get a Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis shirt, they are nice every year. It’s all pretty easy and I’m very excited to be able to walk this year. All kids and family are welcome also, this is going to be awesome!our team and help us get one step closer to a cure for cystic fibrosis!
A word from CF --For too long, cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease, has robbed people of tomorrows – progressively limiting their ability to breathe and tragically shortening life. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with CF. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease. We walk in Great Strides for them.
Will you join us?
Great Strides is a fun event that provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, and colleagues to come together to make a difference in the lives of people with CF.
To participate, just click on the "Join our Team" button. From there, you can make a donation and start fundraising.
By joining our Great Strides team and making a donation, you will be part of a tenacious and passionate group of people committed to ending this disease. Together, let’s make CF stand for Cure Found!
Foundation-Sponsored Indoor and Outdoor Events and Gatherings
The Foundation is closely following the evolving coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to monitor coronavirus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and assess whether we need to change any scheduled events.
To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow, and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function.
To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
