Thank you for checking out our page. We would love for you to join our team and walk with us to help raise money to help cure cystic fibrosis. My name is Kristin Copeland. My husband, Andrew, and I have three boys, two of which have cystic fibrosis. Britain is 9 years old (our oldest) and was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis 2 years ago. This was a big suprise to us because he passed the newborn screening. Our middle son Bry does not have cystic fibrosis. Our youngest son, Bruce (4) has been seeing the cystic fibrosis clinic since he was an infant but was officially diagnosed with cystic fibrosis the same year as Britain. Bruce's birthday is 2 days after the walk so this will be a great birthday celebration for him. Two years ago was very difficult for us with multiple hospitalizations, antibiotics, and both children being diagnosed in the same year. We are pleased to say that we had no hospitalizations and a mostly healthy year last year. We look forward to having many healthy years ahead. We hope that you will support this very important cause.
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
