Meet Tobias. A born Fighter. A Bull in China shop 3 year old toddler not afraid of anything!
He needed surgery at 3 days old for a bowel obstruction. He spent the first 7 weeks of his life in the NICU and spent the first 4 months of his life with an ostomy bag. He now spends his days taking a half dozen different meds (nothing compared to the dozens of different meds he will have to take in the future) and does CPT and nebulizer treatments 2-4 times a day.
In the course of his life, he has a high likelihood of infertility, diabetes, liver cirrhosis, kidney failure and lung failure. In addition to his daily routine, he will face many surgeries (he's already had 4!) including several organ transplants, just to stay alive.
Tobias has 2 Class 1 mutations, which is the most severe classification. He is a part of the 10% of the CF population for which there are no drugs currently available or in the research pipeline that could give him a chance of living a regular life span. Median age of survival is currently 46.
I walk for him and every other person that still does not have a life saving treatment available. I walk for his older brother so he can have his brother with him for life. I walk because it's the only thing that I have the power to do to help him.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about his story and I hope you will consider donating to our cause!
