Hi, I'm Caleb Sprinkle! I am ten years old and in the fourth grade. I LOVE math and PE, riding my new electric dirt bike, and all things Pokemon. I also live with cystic fibrosis.
Having CF means I take lots of pills and medicines. I also spend a lot of time doing vest and breathing treatments to keep my body healthy. When I get sick, it's a BIG DEAL and my parents do even more to help me keep my lungs clear. I go to the doctor ALL THE TIME, even when I'm not sick, and I have lots of tests to make sure I'm as healthy as I can be. I hate shots and having blood drawn, but I know it's for a good reason. I try to be brave!
One of the medicines I take is Kalydeco. My mom calls it a "miracle drug" and I guess it is. We found out last January my lungs are already showing some damage from CF, even with all the medicines and treatments I do every day. I heard there's a new drug I can take when I'm 12 that's even better at helping people with CF stay healthy. But it doesn't work for everybody, so we need to raise lots of money to make it happen for all people living with CF!
This year I have my own Great Strides fundraising page! I hope I reach my goal of $5000. Every penny goes to help people who are fighting cystic fibrosis and is 100% tax-deductible (Mom said to be sure and mention that part). We are all looking forward to the day CF stands for Cure Found!
