It's that time of year again! As many of you know, Stephanie and I were blessed with beautiful, healthy triplets in June of 2008. We are so fortunate that Addison, Aidan and Bryson were born healthy with no complications. Many parents are not so lucky and are faced with illness and disease. Cystic Fibrosis is one of those diseases. I am honored to be walking again on behalf of Insure the Cure. This is the 4th year I will be walking with my W.R. Berkley team, for Desi, Caleb and Emily. Desi is 5, Caleb is now 11 and Emily is 24, they are all energetic, outgoing and awesome! The difference is that they are living with Cystic Fibrosis. Emily is 24, the daughter of Clay Snellings of Snellings Walters Insurance, and has graduated and earned her Masters Degree from the University of Georgia.
CF is a life-threatening, genetic disease that affects approximately 33,000 children and adults in the United States. While there is still no cure, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been a vital partner in the development of drugs and therapies that have increased the life expectancy of people with CF to 38 years. Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease.
I am especially honored to sit on the Insure the Cure Leadership Team again in it's 10th Year. The industry came together in a big way last year with 45 different teams ranging from insurance agents and Insurance companies to Insurance related vendors under the banner of Insure the Cure! It was a challenge in the middle of a Pandemic. Insure the Cure raised $285,000 in 2020 and has raised over $2.2MM towards a cure for Cystic Fibrosis since 2011. We have a goal to field 45-50 Insure the Cure Teams. We are hopeful that our total raised will reach2019 levels again of $325K plus. My personal goal this year is $10000 but I'll raise it as your generosity allows! You're past generosity has allowed me to raise over $88,000 personally. I'd love to break $100,000 this year. Your gift will help add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis by supporting life-saving research and medical progress. Your gift is 100-percent tax deductible. Will you join me? Please support Emily and Caleb by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today! Click on the video to learn more about CF from Clay Snellings and his daughter Emily. If you would rather field a team then please let me know.
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families. If you would like to join us on the walk, it will take place on Saturday May 18th at Suwanee Town Center Park, Suwanee, GA. Come on out and walk with your friendly competitors and company parnters as we join together to find a cure for CF!
I am grateful for your past and ongoing support. For a cure! Scott
