Hi, I'm Caleb Sprinkle! I am fourteen years old and in the 8th grade. I enjoy playing video games with my friends, and right now I'm obsessed with Mario Kart. I am not a big fan of school, but I work hard and try my best. My favorite class is P.E. I also live with cystic fibrosis. Over the past two years I also battled (and BEAT!) thyroid cancer. Mom says I'm kind of a big deal. ;)
Having CF means I take lots of pills and medicines. I also spend a lot of time doing vest and breathing treatments to keep my body healthy. When I get sick, it's a BIG DEAL and my parents do even more to help me keep my lungs clear. I go to the doctor ALL THE TIME, even when I'm not sick, and I have lots of tests to make sure I'm as healthy as I can be.
One of the medicines I take is Trikafta. My mom calls it a "miracle drug" and I guess it is. But even with the best science stuff on my side, my lungs are already showing some damage from CF, even with all the medicines and treatments I do every day. My pancreas and liver, too. I started taking Trikafta a couple of years ago and I can tell a big difference in the way my lungs feel. But Trikafta doesn't work for everybody, so we need to raise lots of money to make it happen for all people living with CF!
This year I have my own Great Strides fundraising page! I hope I reach my goal of $5000. Every penny goes to help people who are fighting cystic fibrosis and is 100% tax-deductible (Mom said to be sure and mention that part). We are all looking forward to the day CF stands for Cure Found!
