Hello, Team Reid supporters!
We’ve had such a great year with Reid! He’s in 8th grade, 5’6”, and up to 105 pounds!! Bless him, he’s done so well gaining weight but he’s getting so tall, his bmi is only at 2%! But we are so proud that he’s gaining and growing.
One hurdle that we've had to face is Reid being pre-diabetic. This can happen with CF kids as they get older. Our goal is to keep the diabetes away for as long as we can. We've had to adjust his diet (this has been a hard task!), and up his exercise, water intake, etc. He will start Year 2 on the track team in a few weeks and he is so excited!
Lung wise, this kid is doing great!! He continues to amaze us at each clinic by blowing higher and higher pft's (pulmonary function tests). One highlight from 2023 is that he got his feeding tube out! He was/is so happy to finally have it out after 7 long years!
He still does all of his treatments every day (Vest 2x a day, 2 aero chamber treatments, and a nebulizer treatment, along with all of his medications…Creon enzymes, Prevacid, Albuterol, Pulmozyme, Flovent, Nasonex, and vitamins). He never complains. He's really a great kid! He’s also continuing to take Trikafta (the new Med that helps with overall lung function), so we’re praying that his liver levels will remain stable and he’ll continue to be able to take it.
Please help us meet our fundraising goal by donating today! These fundraising dollars are helping him, and others like him, to live a longer life. And that's priceless to us.
We can't thank you enough for loving us and supporting us!!
With love,
Mike, Mandy, Maya and Reid
