I walk for Madelein!
Madelein (Maddy) is a 6 year old child living with cystic fibrosis. She was diagnosed at 18 days old via a sweat chloride.test.
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, liver and other systems due to a missing or faulty protein in the CFTR gene. There is no cure but treatments in recent years have come close to letting patients live a longer, healthier, productive life.
Despite the great progress made, Maddy does 2+ hours of medical treatments daily to stay "healthy." She's a total trooper who loves school, pretend play, dancing, and video games.
I'm passionate about fundraising for the CFF due to their dedication to all parts of the cystic fibrosis community - not just the medical aspect, but their mental and emotional health as well! The foundation has been the spearhead for all the amazing drugs coming out and they set the clinic standard for hospital care in the US. We are forever grateful Maddy was born during a time when so many advancements are available to her.
We chose not to do a big team in 2021 due to COVID-19 cases continuing to rise, but I'd love if anyone wanted to donate towards my virtual walk! My goal is $650 and to walk 65 miles for my girl in 2021.
