2020 Tampa Great Strides Ambassador - Skyler Timothy

Skyler Timothy is 19 years old. She currently works at Youfit Health Club in Carrollwood as a front desk person. She loves all aquatic activities, watching Netflix, her cat Sammy and hanging out with her fiancé Jake. Skyler was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 9 months old. This summer she is so excited to get married and start a life with her new hubby.

“I am so excited to be the new ambassador for the Florida Gulf Coast Tampa Great Strides. Ever since I was diagnosed, my parents have been very involved with great strides. When Sheena Scott asked me to speak at the walks last year, I said yes with no hesitation. Then she asked me to be the ambassador, and it was an immediate yes. I’m so excited to help raise awareness. and get everyone pumped up for our events.”

2020 Tampa Great Strides Ambassador - Ronan

Ronan was born on August 26th 2018 weighing 6 lbs 12 oz. At his two week check-up we found out he had gained no weight, and were notified about the unfortunate results of his newborn screening. It was tough trying to make sense of everything as we sat there through a hurricane contemplating what his life would be like. Little did we know we would have a great team of doctors in addition to our incredible family and friends for much needed support. A year and a half later we find ourselves reflecting on how fast it went by, and how well Ronan has done so far. He's extremely active, loves to climb on anything and everything, has a great appetite, and never gives up the chance to chase after our cat and dogs. We're so excited for what's at stake in the coming years with regards to Trikafta for his age group, and other treatments coming down the pipeline!

About Our Great Strides Walk

For more than 30 years, Great Strides – the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event – has supported the Foundation’s mission to cure cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease that has robbed people of tomorrows, progressively limiting their ability to breathe and tragically shortening life.

Great Strides provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, and colleagues to come together and make a difference for those with CF. The event harnesses the power of people with a shared vision and encourages collaboration, team building, and leadership, as we collectively take steps to find a cure.

Registration is free, but walkers are encouraged to raise funds. Your support will help the CF Foundation pursue new therapies and provide vital support to meet the needs of our community. We are committed to exploring all science that has real potential to deliver a cure and the funds raised at Great Strides will help us reach our goal.

Sign up to walk in Great Strides today. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found!

Plus, save the date and join us for a Florida Gulf Coast Chapter Virtual Community Pep Rally – May 14, 2020 at 6pm. We have an exciting local virtual event planned, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.

The CF Foundation is going cashless! If you are planning on making a donation on the day of the walk, we encourage you to bring your checkbooks or credit cards and avoid cash.
