Yes Jimmy's Team is alive and well down here in the Sunshine State. We are gearing up for the walk on May 2nd in Melbourne Florida. Do you want to come down and walk with us? Just kidding but I am hoping I can count on everyone's support for my most favorite, yet least favorite charity, Cystic Fibrosis.
This Friday, March 13th Jimmy would be turning 24 years old! Hard to believe he has been gone for almost 9 years on July 23rd. He was only 15 years old! It seems like yesterday when I received the horrible news that he passed away. Our lives changed forever but my family and I have been dedicated to fund raising since Jimmy was born and we will not stop until CF stands for "Cure Found"
In 1996, Jimmy was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at two months old. Jimmy had a laugh that was contagious, a smile that could brighten anyone’s day, and a heart of gold. Despite all of the pain and suffering he endured on a daily basis, he always put everyone else first—if someone was sick, he would ask how they were feeling, even though he was up all night coughing; if you were feeling down, he would crack jokes to make you smile, even though he was the one in the hospital; if you needed someone to talk to, he was always there to listen, even though he was the one battling for his own life.
Although Jimmy is no longer with us, there are still tens of thousands of other children, men and women fighting for their lives. It is not easy, but my family and I continue to fundraise for the cystic fibrosis foundation and attend the annual walks to bring awareness to this deadly disease and raise money so that others do not have to endure the pain our family has been through. Jimmy would want us to do this.
Please considering sponsoring me by clicking on my name below to sponsor me. Every little bit helps. Thank you soooo much for your continued support.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor events sponsored by the CF Foundation are strictly prohibited at this time. Scheduled outdoor events must adhere to strict requirements to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection. Events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT OUTDOOR FOUNDATION EVENTS:
To minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection, attendees at CF Foundation events must adhere to the following requirements:
Practice physical distancing and maintain at least a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times
Face masks strongly encouraged and expected to be worn in accordance with local guidelines. (Note, children under two years of age should not wear masks due to safety concerns and therefore should not attend CF Foundation events where there is risk of interacting with someone outside of their household.)
Follow basic infection, prevention and control practices by regularly washing hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19. People with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
