Thank you for visiting our team page. This would have been our the 19th year participating in the Great Strides campaign aimed at finding the cure for cystic fibrosis. As most of you know, 2019 was an extremely tough and trying year. Danny and Mari relocated to North Carolina in the early spring as he was listed for a double lung transplant. He remained stable and gained weight until he developed pneumonia on August 26th and was hospitalized. After a grueling 30 days in the ICU, Danny lost his battle with cf on September 25th. We plan to continue the fight we started together to find an end to this horrific disease. We will continue to do this the same way Danny lived his life, FULL THROTLE!!!
This year’s walk was scheduled for April 18th but due to Covid, it was canceled, but those living with CF need to continue their fight through this pandemic. We are living in an unprecedented moment, but together we will persevere. Meanwhile, people with CF are managing additional challenges to their daily lives. Many people with CF are experiencing anxiety because of all the uncertainty around COVID-19, particularly because of the higher risk. Fear of returning to in-person work and school that could jeopardize their health, or the health of their loved ones. Patient safety: transitioning to telehealth services so patients can still have regular visits with their care teams without putting their health at risk. Patient isolation during routine hospital stays due to COVID-19 precautions.
Since we cannot hold any in person events, we are going to have a virtual “Run 4 Danny” event on Saturday September 26th. 1 year and 1 day after he gained his wings. Not only are we continuing the fight to raise life saving funds for medical research but will be celebrating Danny’s fight and keeping his legacy alive. Please donate on this page.
We are asking everyone to Walk or Run and Donate any length and amount you can, anywhere you can and post a picture of you and your friends and family during this event and tag us on Instagram @running_w_danny and or Facebook @runnningwithdanny. As well as @cffsouthflorida on both social media platforms. Use the following hashtags as well #DQ19 #DQsLungs #lungs4danny
Please share this with friends family and collogues and help us continue to raise funds so that others with cf do not need to go through what Danny did.
You can visit our website www.runningwithdanny.org to read more about Danny and his life as well as follow us on social media on the Running with Danny pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Our family thanks you for the continued support and generosity you have shown us throughout the years.
Thank you and God Bless!!!
