As many of you may know, Cystic Fibrosis (CF), has been a big part of my life growing up. My brother Steven (the OG Spielmonster) was born with CF, and we frequently supported the cause.
Unfortunately, Steve passed away in 2005.
CF has had a devastating effect on my family, but it was also devastating for my brother. Imagine being born with such a rare genetic disease, knowing your life was going to be cut short. It's not something I'd wish on anyone.
Wondering where your money goes? How reliable is CFF?
Via CharityNavigator.com, CFF has received 4/4 for their usage of funds, and is proud that about 90 cents of every dollar goes back to the programs.
For an extremely detailed breakdown of funds, check it out for yourself.
"The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) was established in 1955 to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. The Foundation is the leading organization in the United States devoted to cystic fibrosis. It funds and accredits more than 115 CF care centers, 95 adult care programs and 50 affiliate programs, and has 80 chapters and branch offices nationwide. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus."
For too long, cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease, has robbed people of tomorrows – progressively limiting their ability to breathe and tragically shortening life. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with CF. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease.
I walk for them. Will you join me and support my Great Strides fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short.
By walking with me in Great Strides, you can help accelerate the Foundation’s pursuit of new therapies and provide vital support to meet the needs of the CF community.
Please support me!
Your participation will help us get one step closer to ending this terrible disease. Let’s make CF stand for Cure Found.
