My Great Strides Story

Dear family and friends,

Welcome to Great Strides 2024!  Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, life shortening, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. 

As the Adult CF program coordinator at Hartford Hospital for the past 18 years I have been extremely fortunate to work with an outstanding CF team, CF colleagues, and an incredible CF community that have become family.  We are truly amazed by the development of more than a dozen CF treatments that have helped add decades of life for people with CF.  The updated life expectancy for people living with CF is now 56 + compared to 38 about ten years ago!!!

Our work is not done yet.  There are still many people with CF who are not able to benefit from these therapies.  The goal is to have a cure for EVERY person with cystic fibrosis so that no one is left behind.
