Violet's Great Strides Story
Violet is a 14-month-old whose life has been impacted by the genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF affects both Violet's lungs and her pancreas. It makes it difficult for her to clear the buildup of mucus in her lungs causing extended illnesses. It also prevents her body from taking in and absorbing important nutrients from food allowing her to gain weight and thrive.
To battle this, Violet takes various medications and treatments each day in order to keep her body healthy and thriving. Violet takes the medication, Creon, before every meal and snack throughout the day. Violet also takes a new medication, Orkambi, in the mornings and evenings that enables her body to clear out the mucus that causes illness. Additionally, Violet takes albuterol, a saline treatment, and completes a chest PT regimen daily to further help her body keep her lungs clear.
Without these treatments, life would be extremely different for Violet. Therefore, we are participating in this Great Strides walk to help fundraise and move toward ending this awful disease for my girl, as well as all the other children and adults who are impacted by it.
Your support makes a difference!!
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance our mission for a cure for ALL. Please consider joining Violet's Wildflowers and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
