My Great Strides Story
As many of you may already know, I am involved in fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through my summer employment at the Wilton Family YMCA's Camp Gordyland. Our camp Founder & former Director, Aaron Britton, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 2016. After 25 years of working at the Y, he retired early to focus on his treatment schedule and to spend time with his family. In 2023, Aaron received a life-changing call, that he would be receiving a double lung transplant! We are so grateful for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and for their funding towards research and high quality specialized care.
Each year, our YMCA family takes part in "Great Strides" to raise money for the Foundation and their continued fight to find a cure. Their relentless efforts directly benefit our dear friend, Aaron, and thousands more living with CF. This year, the event will be held on Sunday, May 5 with Aaron serving as Connecticut's Great Strides Ambassador. I hope you will consider donating to this amazing cause and supporting me in my walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes a buildup of thick mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Life with CF is very demanding for Aaron, requiring him to spend hours doing treatments and taking medication each day. Thanks to supporters like you, the CF Foundation continues to make extraordinary progress in research and CF care that Aaron directly benefits from.
The CF Foundation has led the way in the fight against CF and helped add decades of life for people for CF. But we are not finished yet -
we will not rest until there is a CURE for ALL people living with cystic fibrosis. We dream of a cure for Aaron and a life free from the burden of this disease.
