There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and for my son, Brandon.
Three years ago in May of 2021, Brandon (age 14) spent almost 5 months in the ICU at Yale due to respiratory failure caused by an aggressive, rare bacteria in his lungs. He was intubated twice, put on ECMO for 51 days, suffered seizures, was on dialysis, then had a tracheostomy and a g-tube placed. He was down to 68 pounds. He finally returned home on September 22nd, 2021. It was nothing short of a miracle. We almost lost him and we are determined to find a cure so that this can never happen again to him or anyone else who lives with CF.
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We've come so far, but there's still so much work to do. I will not stop until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. Please support me!
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of cystic fibrosis and your support matters. With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help me reach my fundraising goal and ensure that Brandon stays healthy. Thank you so so much!
Love, Kerry, Dave and Brandon Pawlyk
