Usually at this time, I’d be flooding my social media pages with information about cystic fibrosis and how it’s effected our family and asking for support during the Great Strides Walk here in Denver. However, this year is different. It’s a struggle for many. A time of uncertainty. A time of confusion. A time of concern. The fact is, we simply don’t know what the week, the month, or the summer is going to look like. With a husband that works in the oil and gas business, three kids that are suddenly being homeschooled, doctor appointments that are all being done online or simply postponed…we feel your frustrations and concerns. We are all anxiously awaiting and praying for a vaccine for COVID-19.
The truth is, once a vaccine is discovered, we will be elated but our family will still have a fight on our hands. 2019 was a breakthrough year for the Cystic Fibrosis community and we are hoping the researchers continue to ride that momentum because we are still in need of a cure.
So, for now, our walk which was supposed to take place on May 9th at a beautiful park surrounded by many of our family and friends is cancelled. Instead, Lincoln Up with Jackson’s Rays of Hope is going to do a virtual walk. Our family will be walking on May 9th with our team shirts on and we want to invite you to do the same. Our National team usually walks in about 5 other states, but we’d love you all to join us on May 9th from wherever you are and send pictures so we can show the boys that their support team is still well-intact.
I am attaching the link to donate, but please know that we understand if it is not possible at this time. We encourage you to show your support however possible…donate, walk, pray, or send us a picture in your Lincoln Up with Jackson’s Rays of Hope shirt. We have been so fortunate for the past 9 years to have the support of so many, so know that we are thinking of you all and praying for your safety and sanity during this challenging time. We also hope that you have found time to enjoy this slower pace of life and see some of these challenges as blessings.
We hope to see pictures of many of you walking with us on May 9th! As always, thank you for your continued support!
Nick, Erin, Jackson, Brock and Lincoln
