Dear Friends, Family & Colleagues:
I hope you are staying well and taking care. I am reaching out to you today in an effort to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I know some of you have already donated to this year's event and I am thankful for current donors and all those who have donated in the past.
Cystic Fibrosis, or CF, is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time and shortens the lives of those it affects. When the CF Foundation first began in 1955, people with CF seldom lived to see elementary school, but today more than half of the CF population are adults and are reaching major milestones.
As a lot of you already know, Alex was first diagnosed when he was 6 months old. He has had to live with this disease and all of its implications since. We are fortunate Alex has recently gotten his 1st Covid vaccination shot and will be turning 28 this summer. Alex enjoys making music and would like to get back to his regular workouts. Alex is also considering going back to school to further his education. Not only does Alex have to face the daily reminders of this disease, never knowing how he might feel on any given day, he is also super helpful assisting my mom in caretaking for his dad.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care. Nearly every CF-specific drug available today was made possible with the financial support of the CF Foundation.
Here’s where my special request comes in. I am participating in a 65 Roses Challenge and will be cycling 65 miles the weekend of May 7-9. My personal goal is to raise $1,000. My team goal is to raise $3,000. Here are several ways to help support my goal:
Donate to my page! Any amount of money is much appreciated.
Help me raise funds by signing up for Alexander’s Army as a virtual participant. You can do your own event, like riding 65 miles, walking or running for 65 minutes, etc. Get creative and have others join you.
Or join in on my challenge to bike 65 miles the weekend of May 7-9. The Great Strides Walk would be held on May 15 if not for the pandemic. So, there is flexibility if you want to hold your own event.
