For 12 years I've had the honor of caring for patients with cystic fibrosis. In that span alone advances in care have been incredible:
Median life expectancy has climbed from late 30s to almost 50 years old
Treatment options now include pills that target protein-level defects
Inhaled medications that used to take hours a day now fit in the palm of your hand, and much more.
People with CF are living longer with better quality of life, and more and more patients than ever are doing things once thought impossible like getting married, having children, and planning for the future they want instead of a future dictated to them by their illness.
Much of this is made possible by the efforts of the CF Foundation. If you are able to donate every dollar is appreciated. The future for these patients is only getting brighter, and a cure is getting closer and closer
