Our family is so excited to invite you to join us at Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis in 2023! We will be walking at the Austin FC Soccer Stadium on May 6th (check-in at 9am and Walk starts at 10a)!
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. It makes the mucus thick and causes infections in the lungs and difficulty in digesting food. Colt and Willow both have Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and have been working hard to stay healthy. They have done extremely well with the new medicine for cystic fibrosis, Trikafta. This medicine helps the defective channel work better. The channel still doesn't work as well as people without CF, but it's an improvement. Since they started Trikafta in the summer of 2021, both of them had their lung function improve. They are gaining more weight and growing taller every month.
We are so thankful for the advances from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and we can't wait for the new developments down the pipeline. There are still 10% of CF patients without medicine to help them. We will not leave them behind without something to help them breathe easier. The foundation is also working on a strategy to correct the CF channel completely.
We hope you can join us at the Austin FC Soccer Stadium on May 6th! Come and join Colt and Willow as they walk for research and drug development for Cystic Fibrosis!
With Love,
Nicole, Dan, Colt, and Willow
