Hello Friends & Family! We’re reaching out to you about Team Parker 2020.The Shearer Family was planning to take a break this year while we focused on our health and family. In March we lost a very important person in our lives...Kris’s Uncle John. The person who came every weekend for 7 years to spend time with our boys while giving all the love and care he could. So we made a decision that we have to walk in honor of Uncle John who was one of Team Parker’s biggest supporters. So this year we will focus on fundraising by direct donations along with t-shirt sales. We’re hoping to have the design and information out to you by the end of this week. It will be a quick turnaround time, but I know we can do it!! We thank each and every person who has supported us these past 7 years and we pray you can help us make 2019 another successful year. Parker has had a better year since he started his new medication in August, but without money being raised for research, drug studies and other countless efforts we would not have experienced what this new medication could do for Parker. The York Great Strides annual event is May 16, 2019 at Cousler Park in York. This is a 5K walk. All money raised goes to research for finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis
Thank you all for your support of this event and our son Parker!!!
Foundation-Sponsored Indoor and Outdoor Events and Gatherings
The Foundation is closely following the evolving coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to monitor coronavirus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and assess whether we need to change any scheduled events.
To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow, and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function.
To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
