In early 2013, we received some news that will forever change our lives - our boys had a chronic, life-shortening illness……Cystic Fibrosis. CF is genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system and there is NO CURE!
Jackson is now 8 and in Second Grade; Jacob is 6 and in Kindergarten. They are typical boys in many aspects BUT every day, they each take up to 15 different medications, and receive 60 minutes worth of chest percussion therapy while inhaling nebulized treatments. And that is just when they are well - the medications and treatments increase when they are sick.
Will you walk with us at Great Strides on Saturday May 16th? Great Strides is a fun, family event. Its at Garden Spot High School and starts at 10am. There is no fee to register, and all registered walkers will get lunch from Pizza Hut (and Dunkin Donuts will be there too!)
If you want to make a donation, you can do that too! All donations are 100% tax deductibe. The CF Foundation does not receive federal funding, so donations are used for research for drugs like Orkambi - which both boys take. Its the first medication of its kind, treating the underlying cause of CF. Its not a cure, but they are getting closer every day.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. YOU can make a difference and help us make CF stand for Cure Found!
