This year will mark the 12th year we have participated in the Great Strides fundraising event. During this time there has been immense progress in extending the lives of many CF patients. However, our granddaughter Lilly has a very unique form of this rare disease which has not benefited from these life extending discoveries. We hold out hope that in the next few years a treatment will be found. Then the daily regimen of drugs, breathing treatments and frequent hospital checkups will be a thing of the past.
Lilly has been doing school remotely as have most students and doing very well as she is a conscientious student and excelling at highest level. This year she took up mountain biking and joined a team and loves it. It is outside and socially distant. This spring she is doing track. Lilly loves all animals and a highlight was adopting 2 rescue kittens who are the most spoiled kittens ever and dearly loved. This year she is 13 which is an age most CF patients just 40 years ago never reached. Thanks to many years of fundraising and research CF patients life expectancy has quadrupled to age 40.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis today. Will you join us and support our fundraising goal?
We will not stop striding until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
