Be a part of BECCA'S BRIGADE and help us add tomorrows!
As we always do, our family is supporting the annual Great Strides Walk. This is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event, and we have been participating since Rebecca was two years old. Though the walk is happening live for the first time since 2019, we solely plan to fundraise this year. Thanks to the work of the CF Foundation, Rebecca is now almost 35 years old. We hope you will join us in spirit as part of BECCA'S BRIGADE!
For those of you who are financially able, please consider donating to our team to fight this nasty disease. No amount you donate is too small. Any contribution, whether it's $10 or $100, will be used to come up with new medications and ultimately a cure for CF. We are getting so close to a cure, and yet it's still out of our reach. Nearly 90 cents out of every dollar you contribute goes directly toward research and care that improves the quality of life for Rebecca and others with CF, and it's tax-deductible!
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, including the release of the drug Trikafta in 2019, your help is needed now, more than ever, to help keep up the momentum of this life-saving research. Too many young lives depend on this vital research to let it go unfunded! The future of their lives is in your hands.
How to make an easy and secure donation:
ONLINE: On the left side of this page, click the yellow “Donate To Rebecca” button. Your donation will automatically be credited to our team, Becca's Brigade.
BY CHECK: Make it out to the CF Foundation and either mail it to Gloria Friedman, 4065 Fragile Sail Way, Ellicott City, MD 21042 or hand it to one of us.
BY PHONE: Call the MD chapter of the CFF at 410-628-0795 or 800-731-2873 and ask to charge your donation by phone. Be sure to request that it be applied to Becca's Brigade.
If you’re up for it, it would also be incredible if you did some fundraising for Becca’s Brigade on your own! To do so, click on "Join Rebecca's Team" instead of “Donate To Rebecca.” There you will have the option to sign up as a walker, make a donation, and ask your friends and family to donate towards Becca’s Brigade.
Together, we can make a difference in Rebecca's life and the lives of all those with CF! Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $20,000!
Thank you so very much. Your support means the world to us! - The Friedmans
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT FOUNDATION EVENTS:
Updated June 15, 2022. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 the Foundation is taking steps to host safe events for our community. Please be advised that events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
To minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection, we ask that attendees at CF Foundation events follow these steps:
Where mandated, practice physical distancing and maintain at least a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household.
Face masks are encouraged and should be worn in accordance with local guidelines. (Note, children under two years of age should not wear masks due to safety concerns and therefore should only attend outdoor CF Foundation events where they are able to distance and stay within their family group.) NOTE: For events hosted by the CF Foundation, masks will be made available on-site, when possible.
Follow basic infection, prevention and control practices by regularly washing hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, and by covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
For indoor events, it is CFF policy to invite only one person with CF to be in-person at the event at a time. For outdoor events, people with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS:
For the health and well-being of the CF community, we strongly encourage that participants be fully vaccinated and have received the CDC recommended booster shot when joining us in-person for the event.
Certain CF Foundation events may require vaccination to attend.
Participants are strongly encouraged to test within 24 hours prior of arrival at an event or meeting, or as close as possible to the time of departure (if traveling).
Please be advised certain events, localities, and venues may require you to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. We will communicate these requirements in event communications.
For events where the CF Foundation requires full vaccination, meeting participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks before the date on which you will first attend the meeting. Registration and attendance at such events may require agreement to health and safety protocols and/or COVID liability waivers.
We are counting on the fact that you appreciate the potential consequences of exposing members of the CF community to COVID-19 and will not attend an event if you test positive, or have been recently exposed to COVID-19.
We cannot guarantee that all people present at the event, including participants, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, or others, have been fully vaccinated.
