“COLLEEN’S CREW”
Dear Family and Friends,
On Sunday, May 21st, Colleen's Crew will be back at it again, walking in our 26th Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis. We will gather once again at Baker Park in Frederick, MD and hope that many of you who are seeing this can join us. There will be a new addition to the Crew as Kelly and Jimmy welcomed Owen Thomas Miller to the team on April 20th. Hopefully he will be sporting his own little Colleen's Crew shirt!
It is hard to believe that we have been doing this for so long but even more humbling that so many of you have continued to support us over these last 26 years. As I look back at all of the various fundraising efforts that we have either led or participated in, “Colleen’s Crew” has raised in excess of $1,000,000 and this year is off to another great start with the Colleen’s Crew Boat raising nearly $15,000. Knowing what we know about the CF Foundation, these proceeds will be put to very good use.
As we have reported before, there have been incredible, life changing advances in the care and treatment of those living with Cystic Fibrosis and Colleen has certainly benefited. The development of the drug Trikafta has continued to amaze all of us in the CF Community and we are excited to report that it was just recently approved for use in children ages 2-5 which will allow even the youngest of patients to enjoy the benefits of this miracle drug.
As grateful as we are for the development of this new drug, there remains a small population of CF patients who have rare or “nonsense” mutations that have not seen any benefits from this treatment. As such, we are as committed as ever to continue to fund-raise so that all patients living with CF can enjoy the benefits of treatments that will improve and extend their lives.
Colleen is in excellent health and recently took a new job with Catholic Charities and is now a social worker at Patterson Park Public Charter School in Baltimore. She continues to work weekend shifts at Univ of MD Medical Center as needed and is certainly keeping herself busy. She has also been serving as a CF Ambassador for the CF Foundation and has enjoyed taking a more active role in advocating for herself and the CF Community.
For those of you that wish to continue to support Colleen’s Crew, please click the donate button on this page and know that we will always appreciate the support you have shown.
Thanks, and God Bless,
Pat, Molly, Kelly, Jimmy, (Owen) Colleen and Bridget
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
Please support me!
