First I wanted to thank everyone who has already donated!
I am walking in the great strides walk to help raise money for a lung disease that my two brothers and I were born with. Cystic Fibrosis has been a part of my family for over 34 years and it is amazing to see the advance in treatment and medicines in that time. When my brother and I were born the life expectancy was 16, but thanks to several advances it is now 37 ( I think its more likely we can double that to 74). My brother wasn't lucky enough to receive a lot of these new treatments and he passed away in 2000 at the age of 16. My younger brother and I have seen the difference these treatments can make in our lives and they help us everyday! Matt has been able to play hockey through college (and he's actually really good) and, with the help of my wife, I have started running...FOR FUN. These new medicines and advances are a direct result of fundraising events like this!
There will be a cure for Cystic Fibrosis one day. I don't know if it'll be in a month, a year, a decade or even 50 years but I know that as long as there are great people donating money to this organization, they will continue to push for better medincines and eventually find a cure. If you can spare a few dollars, I would appreciate it!! Thanks!
