Dear Family, Friends and Neighbors,
It is that time of year to lace up our sneakers for the Great Strides Walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis on Sunday, May 19th at Baker Park in Frederick, MD. As most of you know, our niece, Colleen Crowley was diagnosed with CF in infancy almost 28 years ago. This will be our 27th year walking as Colleen's Crew and we would love for you to join us!
Colleen works with Catholic Charities as a school therapist in Baltimore City after getting her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of MD. She enjoys her life working and living in Baltimore. She is a CF ambassador now and we had the privilege of hearing her speak at Feastival for the past 2 years, a wonderful fundraiser in Baltimore featuring restaurants in the area providing food and drinks from their menus. Colleen continues to enjoy good health and is on the drug Trikafta, a triple combination drug that works for 90% of the CF population and works to target CF at the cellular level, practically repairing the malfunctioning gene in their bodies. When the FDA approved Trikafta and we started hearing how much of a game changer it was for so many CF patients, we were so overjoyed and grateful! It has truly been a miraculous drug, increasing lung function, and removing people from transplant lists. Colleen is one of many CFers who has benefited from Trikafta. But there is still work to be done for those who have not been able to benefit. We also have an adorable almost one year old cousin named Luke born last July who also has CF so we are doubling our efforts to fundraise for a cure!
As we report each year, the CF Foundation continues to fund groundbreaking research and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of the CF Foundation's support. The Foundation has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help discover and develop breakthrough CF therapies that have improved the quality of life and life expectancy for Colleen and others with the disease. Our hope and prayer is that Colleen continues to benefit and thrive from existing therapies and that one day through your continued support that CF stands for "cure found"!
We know that Colleen has been blessed with incredible health despite her daily challenges and it is a great feeling to know that together we are making a difference not only in her life but everyone affected by CF. Please know that your continued support and generosity will never be taken for granted. Together, thanks to you, Colleen's Crew has raised over over a MILLION dollars through all the various fundraising efforts over the years which is hard to imagine. There are no words that can express our infinite gratitude except thank you, thank you, thank you!
We thank you again in advance for your continued support. Any donation large or small makes a difference!
Please click the "Donate to Me" button on our homepage and know that we remain forever grateful.
If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to the CFF and mail it to us at 520 Elm St. Frederick, MD. 21701
Love, MB and Tim
