My Great Strides Story
Hi everyone,
My name is Colleen Crowley and I am a 27 year old living with cystic fibrosis. This year I will be walking in both the Baltimore and Frederick great strides walks and hope to see many of your beautiful faces there with us. This event is one of mine and my family's favorite days of the year as we get to celebrate all the successes the CF Foundation has had each year. From new medications and treatment options, to increased life expectancies and seeing so many people with CF thriving beyond what they thought was possible- it's all thanks to you, the donors, our treatment teams, researchers, and patients both past and present. I'm so thankful for every single person who has donated and supported me and my family over the years. Your support and love has never gone unnoticed- especially considering that Colleen's Crew has now surpassed $1,000,000 in fundraising.
The strides taken have had a direct impact on my health and wellbeing as I am now four years in on the "miracle drug" Trikafta. Despite my relatively good health for my entire life I have still noticed my body totally transform over the last few years including increased lung function, less frequent lung/sinus infections and need for antibiotics, and stable weight. It's amazing to see all the positive changes in my CF friends and on social media, and I'm confident that we will continue to thrive as the years go on.
It is so important to remember that these new treatments are not a cure, and there are still so many people with CF that are unable to reap the benefits of Trikafta and our other genetic modulators. If you're willing and/or able, please click donate button here or join us in person for the event. Any donation, big or small, makes a difference and directly impacts us CFers.
Thank you,
Colleen
Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who face the sobering prospect of a shortened lifespan. I walk for them.
Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
You can support me!
By supporting my fundraising goal, you have an opportunity in your lifetime to be part of ending this disease. Please consider joining us and help make medical history.
