There are a lot of inspiring people in this world who face monumental life struggles each every day. For children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis the struggle is real. To breathe, to walk, and do normal everyday tasks that most people don’t even think about, can and do involve a lot of extra planning and encouragement to complete. As some of you reading this already know, I am one of the 30,000 people living with Cystic Fibrosis in the USA and I am one of the lucky ones to have gone through a lifesaving double lung transplant. While a lung transplant does not cure Cystic Fibrosis, it does add a much higher quality of life and quantity of years. I am incredibly grateful and thankful for my donor each and every day.
The Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides fundraiser is an event my family and I have participated in most of my life. I have many cherished childhood memories of this yearly fundraiser event and have had the opportunity to meet some pretty incredible people along the way. This event is not only about raising money for Cystic Fibrosis research and helping local families, it’s also about connecting families, friends, care takers who have one thing in common: Cystic Fibrosis a genetic, incurable, terminal disease that needs just as much national attention as every other incurable, terminal disease out there.
