Dear Friends and Family,
This year has been totally crazy...and that's not a good crazy. We are all having to live with the scare of COVID directly effecting ourselves, family members and friends.
As you may know those that have CF are among a very high risk community for getting COVID. The good news is that CF patients are very used to being uber careful about avoiding getting exposed to any kind of infection as they already have a compromised immune system. Even pre-COVID, those with CF routinely wear masks in public and are diligent about hand washing and sanitizing. But despite being as vigilant as possible, this pandemic has reeked havoc by taking precious lives…those with CF as well as many others across the globe. The loss of any life as a result of this virus deeply saddens me but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The recent news of COVID vaccinations is promising and hopefully this wil help alleviate some of the stress related to this pandemic.
As well as alot of charities, CFF has had to make some tough decisions and one very critical one was to cancel all in-person fund raising events for the year. This included CFF's largest fund raising event, Great Strides. While this is absolutely the right decision for many many reasons, these in-person events are the life blood of CFF in order to raise dollars to fund research for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. In 2019, the Foundation raised $100 million dollars but this year we are down ~50%. Our goal this year is to get to $65 million which is lofty but achievable……with your help of course.
I realize this is a difficult time for me to be asking for money but I wouldn’t be asking if I didn’t think it was important. Without fund raising ultimately our ability to find a cure for this disease is at risk. This mission critical research has helped my niece, Natalie who has suffered from CF since she was diagnosed 20 years ago in ways that are incredible.
Please help us by giving what you can…..anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for supporting my efforts to raise funds for Natalie’s Stand over the years and I look forward to your continued support.
