This is a picture of a very happy family that I adore! You may remember in 2012, Loren and Jackson Eades went on the first drug that we, along with our pharmaceutical partner, Vertex, brought to market that treated the basic defect of CF, Kalydeco. Fast forward seven years and both Loren and Jackson are the pictures of health and both are in a clinical trial at Texas Children’s Hospital that measures the sweat chloride (the key indicator of CF) of those who have been on Kalydeco and ….drum roll please … they DO NOT TEST POSITIVE FOR CF! Their bodies do not know
they have CF and as long as they take two little pills a day, their bodies will never know again.
Since 2012, we have helped bring two more drugs to market that treat the basic defect of CF. And we are excitedly awaiting the arrival of a fourth drug – called the Triple-combination
therapy which when approved, could lead over time to more than 90 percent of people with CF having highly effective modulators for their specific mutations. This is something that was inconceivable even just a decade ago.
For those of you who have supported my Great Strides Walk in the past, a huge thank you and I hope you take tremendous pride in the progress you are helping bring about. Again, I ask for your support as our walk is rapidly approaching.
It’s easy to make a donation at any amount you desire. I appreciate it more than you know. We are getting closer and closer to a time when CF stands for Cure Found!
My love and thanks,
