There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis, Mikey, my 4 year old son, being one of them. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Mikey was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was only 2 weeks old through the newborn screening test. Everyday we do nebulizers, vest therapy for airway clearance, pancreatic enzymes to help digest his food and nutrients, vitamins, and other medications to help maintain his health. Even with these daily treatments he recently faced his first hospitalization for IV antibiotics in the Summer of 2017 to treat a CF exacerbation. The only solution is a cure, otherwise we continue to fight daily to keep my boy a healthy, growing 5 year old. Mikey is such an amazing kid and as his mom, there is nothing I want more than a long healthy life for him!
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking April 28, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
