2020: We have reached 3 years with our sassy little fighter and what an exciting year! Dulcey got to walk/run in Great Strides 2019 and it was an emotional moment for myself and her. I look forward to us doing it again in 2020. This year trikafta was approved by the FDA and has been the biggest breakthrough our CF community has experienced! This new medication has been doing wonderful things but sadly it is not available to all and it is not a cure. But we are that much closer! We will not stop fighting and we will not stop walking until the next breakthrough we have is a cure for all. No warriors left behind and no more coughs. Will you help us?
2018: The day I welcomed Dulcey into the world was the best day of my life. She was a beautiful baby girl that I was blessed enough to have on my birthday - a birthday we also shared with my dad! The bliss of new motherhood quickly wore off when Dulcey's weight began to plummet and nothing seemed to help. At less than 2 weeks old Dulcey was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and our journey began. My short time as a CF mom has not been easy but day by day we fight and hope for a cure.
And while a cure is far off the treatments for Dulcey are at a cutting edge and new trials show positive results everyday. These treatments for Dulcey and 30,000 other patients living with CF would not be possible without the hard work and fundraising efforts of organizations such as this one. And while I fight everyday for Dulcey I will begin to fight for more. I will begin to fight for a cure.
Real progress has made been for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Please consider making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
