Welcome to my Great Strides page! Trinity, our dear 13-year old seventh-grader, was born with a life-threatening genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.
In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. As it is a progressive disease (meaning it gets worse over time), the clock is ticking for all those living with this disease. I walk for Trinity and the rest of them because I cannot sit idly by and watch my dear, sweet girl deteriorate and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking in Great Strides, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of Trinity, and other people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Please support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
