Dear Friends and Family,
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk this year is Sunday, May 19. Fran and I will be virtual walker. That means that even though we cannot participate in the actual walk since it is on a Sunday morning when John is preaching and Fran is playing piano, we are still sending out our annual appeal letter to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Most of what we raise goes to research. The results of that research mean that our grandson Ethan is almost 20, and in fairly good health. The drug, Orkambi, that Ethan took for the last few years has done well by him. He did have to be hospitalized during the winter, but it had been three and a half years since his last one. Yearly stays in the hospital are normal for CF patients Ethan's age.
Ethan is still working at Sheetz an average of forty hours a week, and is still with his girl friend. Recently he began taking Symdeko, an improved version of Orkambi. The CF Foundation is continuing to pursue other promising avenues of research in the hope that a cure can be found. The treatments continue to get better and one day there will be a cure.
That is why we are once again asking you please to support us with a donation of $100. or $50. or $25. or whatever you are able to give. Our team has set a goal this year of $1500. Of course, your contribution is tax deductible. Thank you once again for your help.
John and Fran Dietz
