S&B supports the CF Foundation because we know personally through the Dishaw and Madoni family, just how devastating this lifelong genetic disorder can be. The CF Foundation is leading the way in the fight against CF, fueling extraordinary medical and scientific progress. With support from people like us, their research has led the way in the last 30 years to doubling the life expectancy of those with CF. In spite of this progress, many patients cannot benefit from treatments. We are joining together so that one day they will have a cure for all of those living with cystic fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects around 40,000 people and their families. No other genetic disease causes more deaths in young people than CF. 30 years ago, the average life expectancy of a person with CF was 19 years old. A person born with CF today has an average life expectancy of 56 years old! This dramatic increase could not have been achieved without the support of the CF Foundation. Simply put, 40,000 people is a very small market for large pharmaceutical companies to invest research dollars into. That is where the CF Foundation plays such a significant role to fund research and drug development. The CF Foundation is also one of the highest rated charities with almost all money donated going directly towards research and programs.
