Hello Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you for all your support to me for the past 32 years. We have indeed made "Great Strides" (literally!!!) and I choose to celebrate our progress annually at Great Strides, along with the CF community I have worked alongside for 32 years. I am inviting YOU to join me on May 20th at Point State Park for the Pittsburgh Great Strides Walk. June marks my #32 anniversary as a member of the CF Foundation's team. and our alliances across western Pennsylvania who make this progress and awareness possible -- our community of families, caregivers, donors, volunteers and our amazing CF community! I plan to celebrate my #28 anniversary and more importantly, all the progress that has been made for those living with CF over the past three decades. Take action today and join my walk team, Rat Pack. Let's celebrate on the North Shore and as we gaze at out on the breathtaking Pittsburgh sky line, let's make more breaths possible for our CF community who desperately seek an end to this devastating disease.
In 2018, the Foundation continued to make remarkable progress in science, with the FDA’s approval of a third CFTR modulator, Symdeko®, and the expansion of two other modulators, Orkambi® and Kalydeco®, to very young children. And, clinical trial results reveal that there is a very real chance that by the end of 2019, 90 percent or more of those with CF will be helped by triple combination therapies, which combine tezacaftor, ivacaftor, and a next-generation modulator. The Foundation continues to heavily invest in research to address rare and nonsense mutations at labs across the country, and at the CF Foundation Therapeutics Lab, where more than half of the research is focused solely on nonsense mutations.
Help me reach my goal of 28 teamMates celebrating, walking, and getting us closer to making CF stand for Cure Found! See you on June 1st! Go RatPak!
Many, many thanks and I hope to see each of you soon!
Pat
