My Great Strides Story
In 1979, my brother, Justin, was born with Cystic Fibrosis. At that time, we did not expect Justin to live past high school. There was little support for CF families and a lot to still learn about the disease.
Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues. Justin experienced a rapid progression of the disease in his mid-twenties. He was fortunate to receive a double lung transplant in 2007. This week he will be 45 years old!
Today, there is still no cure for cystic fibrosis but we are making much progress in the quests to cure CF and to increase the quality of life for those living with CF everyday. By participating in Great Strides, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
Your support makes a difference.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance our mission for a cure for all. Please consider joining us and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
