My Great Strides Story
I am celebrating my 9th year working for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In these nine years I have met so many children AND adults living with cystic fibrosis. These individuals and their families and friends are so passionate about supporting the CFF mission.
Also in this time, we have seen AMAZING progress with the approval of several life-changing drugs known as modulators. These drugs work for about 90% of the CF population and significantly improve lung function. Plus, the current life expectancy for people with CF is 56 years old, a substantial jump from a decade ago, when the life expectancy was 38.
However, this is not enough! The modulators are not a cure, they do not work for ALL people with CF, and 56 years old is still too young! That is what we continue to fight until there is a cure for all people with CF.
Thank you for generously supporting my team in the past and continuing to help me reach my goals. In 2022, we raised $1,815, and I would love to break the $2,000 mark this year!
Here's more information about CF and the CF Foundation:
Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who face the sobering prospect of a shortened lifespan. I walk for them.
Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
