El Jefe's Posse

Join El Jefe and his Posse to help us get one step closer to a cure for cystic fibrosis – a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe. 

Jeffrey was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 2 weeks old. He had been born 5 weeks premature, and was in the NICU to help with feeding issues. He was eating like a champ, but was not gaining much weight, which made his NICU stay longer than expected. The night before he was to be discharged my husband and I found out that Jeff’s metabolic screening came back positive for 2 different mutations of Cystic Fibrosis.

Neither of us had any idea that we were carriers, and it was a scary diagnosis.

We're now 3 1/2 years in, and are so grateful for the wonderful medical care, love, and support that we have received from family, friends, doctors, nurses, therapists, and those who have helped, donated, or reached out in any way.

With supporters like you by our side, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation continues to lead the way in the fight against CF, fueling extraordinary medical and scientific progress. The life expectancy of someone born with CF has doubled in the last 30 years. Despite this progress, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies either because their disease is too advanced or because their specific genetic mutations will not respond. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease.
